Prada Trembled Blossoms

Categories: Style

For the Prada Trembled Blossoms Bag, Prada put together this video to help launch the bag. Only a few people were lucky enough to actually get the invite and see the video at its first airing at the Prada ‘SoHo Epicenter’ store in New York. Prada is doing its best to get back at the tops of the luxury market or maybe they’re trying to sketch out a new section for themselves, aiming at a more artistic evolution and aesthetic with all these artist collaborations and projects, like this short film, which in itself is a nice piece of artistic work. Now, is it the best marketing move? I’m still scratching my head at that, I’m not sure how exactly a virtual girls journey where a fish that turns into a handbag and a creature-ish man of some sorts makes an appearance is going to make people buy an expensive bag, a bag that has a relatively simple/basic design. But I do give credit to Prada for trying, and the film was interesting.

Nokia 888

Categories: Design, Tech

I’m sure you’ve all seen images of the Nokia 888 concept cell phone design created by Turkish student Tamer Nakisci, but the above video shows how the Nokia 888 would functionally work if you had it and show some of the capabilities it would handle. If you want to see more concept cell phone designs like a maple wood cell phone or a scroll cell concept (also pictured after the jump) you can just click here.

I have the absolutely no clue what this video-ad is for or what’s its purpose, but I do like the music and the video is very interesting. Who would have knew seeing people take a punch in super slow-motion would be that entertaining, I mean interesting.

The Wonder Years

Categories: Film/TV

Today officially marks the return of Throwback Thursday, it was in hiatus for a while but it’s been given new life. I bring back throwback thursday with one of my favorite childhood shows ever, and probably yours too, The Wonder Years. The video is the intro song to the show, remember that song, it brings me back to those days of acting foolish and having crushes. Ahh, those lovely first crushes, how they molded your future in so many ways. The Wonder Years, is by far in the top 5 kid series shows ever (and you can be sure the other 4 will make appearances on throwback thursday), even if all the child actors were doomed to never make it as serious adult actors as do to the curse of the child actor. But how could you not fall in love with Winnie Cooper, I mean seriously, she was probably like every little boys dream girl at the time. And what about little Kevin Arnold and his geeky best friend Paul Pfeiffer, they were as cool as cool could get, how else do you explain this being such a dope outfit. The best part about the show was the narration Kevin would do for himself, like exactly how it really is in life, you are thinking something completely different then what you’re saying or even acting like at the time. So when you get in front of your TV today, search for the re-runs of The Wonder Years and do yourself a favor and watch them all again, taking you back to those more peaceful child-care-free days. Oh, and if you’re wondering what little Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper are up to these days, well Fred Savage is filming a TV show, ‘Single White Millionaire’, and Danica McKellar is writing bestselling math books these days, oh yea, she still is dream girl material.

Ron English’s: Obama Song

Categories: Art, Etc.

Everyone is getting in on the presidential campaign this year. You have hundreds of “Obama” t-shirts, rappers making songs about Obama and artist are giving their opinions to the only way they know how to, through art. Shepard Fairey had the Obama posters now Ron English has this song/video he put together which, yes, does feature an Obama art wall installation, so without further ado I now introduce Ron English’s “Abraham Obama”.

Philippe Starck’s School of Design

Categories: Design

The trailer has surfaced for the Philippe ‘Patrick’ Starck reality show “School of Design” from BBC. Who would have knew that Starck thinks that to be a good designer you have to think about things like sex, sweat, and flesh, oh, yea, I forgot, he’s sex obsessed. Like I’ve mentioned before reality TV seems to have now boundaries or limits, but hey you never know the showed could be very interesting, I mean who doesn’t want to watch a man talk about sex and design, plus doing the occasional fire alarm all in a French accent.

Advertising movie of the year

Categories: Etc.

Advertising is boring for the most part these days, I can imagine sitting in a brainstorming meeting and yarning a few times before beginning to doodle on my notepad. But Geert Desager a Microsoft marketing employee has been working with Openhere for an ad campaign for Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions. It’s a film called “The Couple”, which has a blog dedicated to it’s every move, Bring the Love Back. The campaign/film is targeting the relationship or lack there of between advertisers and consumers. This is how campaigns should be created, this is the out of the box creative thinking I’ve always been talking about, this is exactly how everyone should enter every meeting or pitch with a client, Geert says is best, “there is only one rule: their are no rules!”
