The Bugatti is my goal car, you know that car you strive to get one day. And if the regular Bugatti Veyron wasn’t enough they had to go ahead and do a Bugatti Hermes edition, which had all the styling done by Hermes. So, I’ll be dreaming up ways for me to get me this car and when I do you can trust, I will not be making it look anything like this, sorry no pink panther mobile for me.

WeJetSet is my favorite travel blog, period. There post cover the globe in such a fascinating way, hitting everything from food, to architecture, to retail spots, they even cover travel activities you can do. Some highlights from their recent editorial givings, are the likes of the BMW museum, finding out that Hermes has no end in sight in finding ways to expand the brand and give new ways for people to spend money on them. While Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld celebrate 50 years of handbags, art, and apparently something shaped like a spaceship. And all the way over on the eastern coast designer Junya Watanabe opened his collection, eYe, he did for Comme de Garcons, in Hong Kong.

The 2008 British International London Motor Show kicked off, and showed some of the best car designs in the industry. It’s not one of the more well known or popular/serious car shows but it’s like a little hidden gem. If you head to its more secluded exhibition space you’d find rare sportscars and new twists on tiny electric cars.

Made in America, that slogan isn’t used as much these days then it was say 40 years ago, but now we can bring it back. Austin based Ronn Motor’s has made a hydrogen fuel injected hybrid, the Scorpion, that doesn’t look like a box with wheels. Ronn Motor’s was able to build an eco friendly car without having to sacrifice the design aesthetics of a sports car. The car uses “hydrogen on demand” technology which generates water and turns it into hydrogen to pump into the car. You can get the Scorpion in 2009 if you have $150,000 to spare.

I have a love and hate relationship with concept cars, I love most of their designs and innovation but I hate how they most often just stay concepts and never get put into production. But like all love/hate relationships you love to keep hating and love to give yourself more torture and agony by finding more reasons to love which just means you’ll ultimately find more reasons to hate. So, I’ve found 8 new reasons why I love concept cars, but just like the cycle goes I also found 8 new reasons to hate them. Fast Company’s 8 concept cars that will never be put into production, but should be.

Standing at the Red Sqaure in Moscow since July 6th, this enormous hourglass has been counting down the launch of the new BMW 7 series. The hourglass is 11.90 meters high, weighs 40 tons, and has 180,000 silver balls that were used to cover the incased BMW which gradually revealed itself as the balls funneled from the top of the hourglass to the bottom. You can visit never-stand-still to see the clock countdown the days and hours til the launch. BMW is by far the leading car maker when it comes to creativity.

I don’t travel much so I live vicariously through the We Jet Set travel blog. It’s sorta like a love/hate relationship, I love there write ups but I hate that I never get to go too any of the places, like not ever being able to get the “cool” girl in highschool. Take for instance they just gave me another reason to visit the land down under and home to Jack Dundee, Australia, to stay at the Limes Hotel. But alas, I still sit here writing about Limes and Australia clearly not booking a flight, oh the torture. Then they hit me with another jab to the gut, they informed me that since I am not an inhabitant of sunny California the land of palm trees and celebrities, I will not only miss out on the next Lohan x Spears siting, I also miss out on getting one of the 500 electric Mini’s being made. So you can feel my pain right? I do have to admit to one thing it’s more of a love relationship, I only slightly hate them. Kind of like how I just slightly hate the fact that I have to watch the movie Hitch every time it comes on.

I have actually thought of this exact idea many times over, I always wondered why you couldn’t slide your door up like you do your bread box. Well, someone finally did it but instead of pulling up the door it slides down and out of sight, making the door itself completely disappear. As for if its really a need or necessity, not really, well it would be great for handicapped people and those really tight parking spots but otherwise it’s really just a way to make your car stand out. Plus you’ll be able to say “my car is cooler than your car, wala” door disappears “abbra cadabra, bet your car can’t do that”.

This has to be the closest thing to actually having an alien spacecraft or at least the one’s you see in the movies. Pushing to be the best fuel efficient car out the Aptera is equipped with a standout design and some tech savvy features. Besides the 3 wheel drive you’ll be sporting the Aptera will come in two models the hybrid version and the electric. And for those who may not be up on their new car eco lingo that means a gas saving version and a plug in the wall version. The top speed will be around 95 mph which means it’ll be highway driveable and a definite head turner. Inside of the car comes with a tech screen with your usual navigation, music, etc. but what I thought was extra cool was instead of having that old school engine/fuel info on your driver side inside dash (you know those circle things with your speed, mileage and gas info) you get 3 monitors hooked up to cameras that’ll show you different angles of the Aptera’s exterior, no sneaking up on this car. And you still will have your car speed, mileage and gas info placed within the screens so don’t fret you panicker. I’m sure I’ve said this before but I really need, want and am going to get this car. But the only problem is the Aptera is currently only being sold in California and begins production later this year so it looks like it might be a little while before I can get my hands on this.  Â

Morgan rolls off the tongue like Bentley does, you know in that way where it sounds like you’re calling your English butler for something (would you like some tea and crumpets, sir). The Morgan will debut at the March 08, Geneva Show. The big motor companies need to start paying real close attention because these smaller companies are really stepping up the eco-car game up. Like with the Morgan it tries to be eco friendly, save you money on your gas and still make sure you look fresh driving down the street. Much better than the normal box clown car they want you to drive in. They need to use this in the next Batman movie, this is the new generation bat mobile. Sidenote, they also make the Aeromax, Jay Leno and the modern day Al Capone would pick the Aeromax up.

How about a sports car that weighs much less cost less but still can make you look cool enough to females to scoop one up for a home visit after the bar. The Loremo, which probably wont be available in the US is going into production in 2009. It’s a being built on a new production system and don’t let the loss in weight make you feel less safe. The door to the car is a ‘gate’ you don’t have side doors, no no, the front lifts up and you hop out, that’s stepping your game up. Plus it has an on board computer with a 12 inch screen which comes integrated with all your usual features, cd, navigation, your gas, it even has email options and allows you to get onto the internet. But I guess to truly get a better feel and look at the car we just gotta wait until 2009 when they start putting it in production. I love the concept of affordable but still very clean.

Concept cars are like iPods now everyone has one and is trying to claim the best one. I’ve already shown you some great concepts from Saab, Maybach and the now realized Audi R8 now meet the C-Metisse from Citroen. The four door sedan conept is the next step in concepts and making cars, sportscars and SUV’s have been loosing the battle of sales to the growing family and comfort base of the sedan. Plus people are tired of spending so much money on SUV gas and hitting their heads when trying to cramp up in a sportscar. The coupe comes with lamborghini style doors and a hybrid diesel drivetrain, the back doors swing open like the front giving the car a full spread eagle look when all doors are opened. The Metisse sits pretty low at 1.24 meters. This car is perfect for the new hip and cool generation of families popping up all over, no more do moms and dads want to drive that god awful station wagon or mini van, that’s for ancient times. Now being a parent or just an older individual doens’t mean you still can’t be stylish and flaunt that swagger, like Jay z said “30 is the new 20″. The only problem is that most concepts stay just that concepts and never see the light of day and never go into production, but hopefully that all will change with the amazing concepts being developed these days.
