Now Mexico has something else they can proud about besides this guy and Corona’s, now they can boast about having the largest crystal cave’s in the World. The natural crystal caves were found in a silver and zinc mine near Naica in Chihuahua, Mexico. The cave is about 30 feet wide and 90 feet long. Just from some of the images of the cave the place seems amazing, I know someone is thinking about cutting all them crystals out, but I hope they leave at least one cave intact for a museum/exhibition/tourist like spot, I mean shit Mexico needs something besides Cancun and Puerto Vallarta to attract tourist to there. You can read up on more info regarding the cave and even a video (in spanish with subtitles) that goes inside the cave over at CubeMe.
Best voting campaign I’ve seen to date. Today is the last day to register to vote in many states like my state, Maryland, so go out and register to vote today. And then tell 5 friends to vote, and then stand over their shoulders while they register so you know they registered.
That good old rubiks cube has been upgraded to make it even harder, like matching colors wasn’t enough. Now this new rubiks aka The Rubiks Mirror Blocks Puzzle, aka Bump Cube has to be solved by geometry not by a color scheme. The cube is made up of 27 blocks in 9 different shapes and you have to get them into a cube shape. If you want this new rubiks to put your brain to the test you are going to have too order it straight from Japan. A video demonstration of the cube in action after the jump.
You on a diet? Trying to watch what you eat? Want a snap with zero calories? Then try eating paper, nope not joking. Slim Chips are flavored paper created by product designer Hafsteinn Juliusson from Reykjavik, Iceland and before you begin with the questions, no I can’t pronounce his name and yes this does strike me as a tad odd, but mainly more curious. Like would you get paper cuts in your mouth if you ate them to fast, how well does paper digest, do you really have that much free time in Iceland, all these questions roam my mind. The Slim Chips are made out of edible paper and come in flavors like sweet potato, blueberry, and peppermint, on the website its described “It’s like eating tasty air”, don’t know what air taste like but these are in that, “what the hell, I could try it once” category. And if Slim Chips aren’t your thing Hafsteinn Juliusson has a very interesting portfolio you can look through , check his napbook.
It’s amazing where you can find some of the most interesting stuff these days, I got this from a person on my gmail list who had this linked under his name. This doesn’t exactly fit with the normal TTS content, even though we cover a wide range of content this is still a little out of the norm. But I think this presentation by Philip Zambardo at the TED conference about why ordinary people can be swayed into doing evil was very interesting. It runs a little over 20 minutes but it goes by pretty quickly because you get sucked into the presentation. Just a very interesting viewpoint on the whole subject of evil and behavoir with studies and facts to support his case, you can make your own judgement of what he’s arguing. Thanks for putting this link up Matt.
Video games have become the new comic books, kids wait in line for them, the storylines have leaped into full blown plots, almost movie-ish type plots. The visuals have increased with the enhancement in technology, digital, and cgi, etc. but the core reason games have evolved so much is that they’re pure fun and great ways to involve human interaction. Ok, that was my “smartsy” speal, games are cool, fun, and entertaining, simply put, and now a fully functional multi-screen gaming system can be delivered to your door steps. Thanks to the people at Games2u, who will bring a gaming built trailer meant to handle one function, playing games. The trailers are climate controlled with functional X-box 360, PS3 and Wii systems that allow for 24 people to play head to head, with 50-inch ftascreen HDTV’s. You can rent these trailers for parties and events starting at $199 for an hour, $299 for two hours and $99 every hour after that. Games2u also provides laser tag setups.
I can be a pretty talkative guy and sometimes I can not say anything at all, right now, I’d say I’m leaning towards nothing at all. The NeoCube is a “thingy”, maybe a toy, I don’t know exactly what it is, all I know is that it has many fun capabilities, watch the video and see what I’m talking about. You can spend hours playing with this.
looking at the ad world some of the best or at least the most entertaining ads are normally the “banned” ones we never get to see aired on TV. Well, thanks internet, thanks Youtube, you’ve given us a key to a locked door, now all the “banned” commercials are at our fingers tips, a mouse click away. And I’ve done the hard part for you, searching to find you some of the best “banned” commercials out there. These videos should help you waste some well deserved work time.
Maybe you live under a rock, if you don’t then you’ve seen one of Improv Everywhere’s missions, maybe their ”no pants” mission, or their “frozen in grand central” mission, or one of their countless others they’ve pulled off. No matter what they seem to pull off you can be sure that Improv Everywhere will make it something worthwhile and entertaining. I caught up with Charlie Todd the founder of Improv Everywhere and had him run down some things for me, like his favorite missions, how IE got started (drinks and college buddies), and what the future holds.
