Method: Smarty Dish

Categories: Design, Etc.

Method always makes some of the best cleaning products in the world keeping a focus on health and design. Actually Method was way above the curve when it came to using design as a focal point in there company. Before it was cool to have design centric products Method made sure to have their products stand out visually. And I just love their motto, “Method people against dirty”.

The IceOrb

Categories: Etc.

The IceOrb by Fusionbrands makes ice cubes, stores them and even acts as one of those cold/frozen cups but much better. If you go the fusionbrands website it will show you a ‘how to’ video of sorts, that depicts the IceOrb’s usage, first put water in the orb and then put the cup inside the orb, the cup will make the water rise filling up the orbs cylinders. Then you freeze the orb with the cup still in it, once you take the orb out and remove the cup you will now have ice cubes that can be stored in the cup or you could keep the cubes in the orb and us the cup as a serving item, now making it a cold/frozen cup to put anything from your beer to your ice cream in. The orb makes 21 ice cubes can store up to 51 cubes and is most important dish water safe.

Oblo

Categories: Etc.

Puzzles just got trickier, (how’d you like that word play) the 3D Oblo is multi colored, multi layered sphere shaped puzzle that can change its level of difficulty by moving around the shapes and center axis. To disassemble and reassemble the Oblo you must twist the shapes against the central axis allowing for the pieces and layers of the Oblo to come off or be put back on. It was designed by Marko Pavlovic and will help kids have to learn various ways to figure out all the different possibilities the puzzle has to offer.

WE: can solve it

Categories: Etc.

With this presidential election heading down the final stretch this November the ads are starting to add up and it’s getting a little annoying. I will never understand the political way of promoting one’s self by constantly trying to point out someone else’s flaw, I’ve only seen that work well one time, and Apple owns that right. So all those seemingly pointless campaign ads just keep on a coming, but I did find a campaign ad not by any of the presidential hopefuls (Obama, McCain) but by WE can solve the climate crisis. This ad by the WE organization is exactly the model some of these campaign election managers should focus on, explaining in detail how ‘they’ want to or can solve an issue, instead of wasting 30 seconds of my life by telling me what each other can’t do. They use the video to inform not put down or attack.

Chess Boxing, no joke

Categories: Etc.

Chess Boxing is not a joke it’s for real and is gaining some popularity. Now I know this is a little different from what we post here on TTS, but the story was intriguing enough that I thought you all should know about this new sport trying to bubble into more of a mainstream arena. Chess boxing has been featured on ESPN and as of now has over 150 competitors, the first official match was in Amsterdam 2003, but chess-boxing was first mentioned in, The Nikopol Trilogy, a 1992 comic book by Enki Bilal. The World Chess Boxing Organization sets up matches over in Europe and official training facilities are in Berlin, London, and Sofia, Bulgaria. So this is how a match works, the competitors rotate between 3 minute boxing rounds and 4 minute speed chess rounds, with 1 minute breaks in between to get gloves off to get back to chess game. You either win by knockout, checkmate or referee’s decision. I don’t know how to play chess, but I do love boxing, even though this sounds odd and would take time to adjust into a entertaining sport to watch and follow, I could see this growing, and myself becoming a fan of it, maybe.

True Office Confessions

Categories: Etc.

True Office Confessions is exactly that, real people at work telling the world about office affairs, lazy/stupid co-workers, creepy/strange bosses, and all for your viewing pleasure. The site is pretty much a laugh factory except for your occasional sad confessions, but none the less it’s fun to see people run-a-muck and tell the world about their offices. It’s like the biggest office gossip group ever, minus the water cooler. There’s also other confession sites dedicated to other topics such as, true mom confessions, true dad confessions, true bride confessions, true military wives confessions, true green confessions, true body confessions, and the one you all new was one the list, true hookup confessions. Enjoy reading, some will make you laugh others cry, but they will all due their duty which is to distract you from actually doing work at work.

We Jet Set

Categories: Design, Etc.

WeJetSet is my favorite travel blog, period. There post cover the globe in such a fascinating way, hitting everything from food, to architecture, to retail spots, they even cover travel activities you can do. Some highlights from their recent editorial givings, are the likes of the BMW museum, finding out that Hermes has no end in sight in finding ways to expand the brand and give new ways for people to spend money on them. While Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld celebrate 50 years of handbags, art, and apparently something shaped like a spaceship. And all the way over on the eastern coast designer Junya Watanabe opened his collection, eYe, he did  for Comme de Garcons, in Hong Kong.

Crazy Horse Memorial

Categories: Art, Etc.

June, 3 1948 was the day that the Crazy Horse Memorial in Blackhills, South Dakota would make it’s first blast on a mountain side officially launching a decades long journey of making the largest sculptor in the world. The memorial came about by a joint partnership between sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski and Lakota Chief Henry Standing Bear to honor the culture and heritage of the North American Indians. Korczak who helped assist Guton Borglum in 1939 with the creation of Mt. Rushmore Memorial in Keystone, South Dakota, went looking for his own mountain to sculpt after the completion of Rushmore and that’s when he met the Lakota Chief. The sculpture still isn’t done and has much work to be done, but when it’s completed the sculpted mountain piece will be 563 ft high and 641 ft long, out doing its near by neighbor Mt. Rushmore. Even though Korczak died in 1982 by a heart attack while on site at the monument, the construction process still lives on, and when everything is said and done Korczak Ziolkowski will become arguably one of the greatest sculptors in history, or at the least, the man known more making monumental monuments (how, corny was that?).

Andy Warhol is Bond: 009

Categories: Design, Etc.

In celebration of Andy Warhol’s 80th birthday Bond No. 9 created a specially designed bottle, Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue. It’s the third collectible eaux de parfum Warhol bottle for Bond No. 9. The perfume is a blend of many fragrances/scents/ingedients like peony, patchouli but my favorite mixes in the bottle are the creme brulee, roasted almonds, and sandalwood which sounds more like a picnic setup then ingredients for a perfume.
