Dave Gensler of the KDU, SVSV and the Royal Magazine has a great mind, and really knows how to do him without worrying about the rest. With that said Dave is publishing the Royal mags issue 8 & 9 at the same time, since he had too much content for just issue 8. So instead of holding onto it, he decided to put them into 2 mags. Issue 8’s theme is called ‘Design in Conflict’ which has the roayl examining how design is obsessed with the new and issue 9 is ‘Looking Forward ToBack In The Day’ which is a look at and at celebration sort of independent creative businesss and the minds behind them. Both 8 & 9 will be Royal classics like all the others are, the path the Royal takes for it’s issues are exactly the type of reading I’ve been wanting from the magazine world for years. Now that the Royal is finally going to be producing its issues in larger volumes more people will be able to get there hands on creativity in the written form.

According to an article in EW (Entertainment Weekly) Shawn Carter aka Jay Z, aka Jigga, aka Hova, aka President and so on, has apparently decided to come out of retirement to drop another album this fall entitled “Kingdom Come”, even though he said the “Black Album” would be his last and he wouldn’t comeback like Jordan, he’s done it anyway. If this is true and we can expect a new Jay album then this is definitley one of the if not the most ainticipated Albums going to drop this year and even the early parts of “07.” The EW article itself is a pretty good read, and as far as the album goes expect some new creative music from J, the way only J can do it, he’s reaching out to great muscians of all walks like Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

WD interviewed the likes of Proof 7, Bijules, HomeRoom, Talib Kwali, and Stash plus a few more I’m pretty sure will be surfacing up on the site from there time at Magic. SGV has done a great interview with Jonas Bevacqua of LRG. SGV says “trying to start a successful clothing company might be harder than trying to make it big in the rap game. so how did a 28 year old asian kid from the OC named Jonas Bevacqua manage to force the entire fashion world to take notice? I interviewed him and I still don’t know how he did it. but what I do know is that LRG has grown exponentially over the past 7 years to become a world wide fashion phenomenon. and the LRG following has also grown; from Kanye West to Tony Gonzales (Kansas City Chiefs) to Robin Williams to Chico Brenes (Chocolate Skateboards)… all bases are covered. a whole lot of eyes are focused on Jonas and LRG right about now… SGV investigates.”

I think we could all use a Ricky Kim in our lives, he’s mad humble, cool, down to earth and has much knowledge to give. Plus he is very talented and is passionate about whatever he does, which isn’t the same for most people. At just 25 dude has done more than most have done in there entire lives and what i really fuck with is he’s all about real people and doing real things, he aint looking just for no dollar $’s. So I took a moment to speak with Mr. Kim to see what he had to say.

 

Woody Allen may be the father of dorkness but these 2 guys are carrying the torch. The heads behind Dork are some cool ass funny but wise dudes, plus it doesn’t hurt that they run one of my favorite magazines to read. I’ve done other interviews but none this Dorktabulous, so sit back and take ride becuase were headed to dorklantis, ha.

WRG? is a dope ass magazine, I mean each issue dropped is too fresh and never has that “damn kinda weak hope the next issue is better “feel. Each WRG? issue is focused around a theme and they just hit it heads on, without skipping a beat. Shit, they so dope I dind’t even know they was reppin an Island from up North, now you know you dope when you can bring heat surrounded by water. I took the time out and figured since WRG? let eveyone know so much about others we mine as well find out about them, and Leslie is a mans name, got it.
