Should I really be talking about fashion during a recession? Maybe, maybe not but one thing for sure is talking about money or job closings or stupid wall street types or the housing market is useless being that every other publication is devoting enough energy already to such topics. So, I’ll do the unthinkable and talk about fashion, even though it’s highly unlikely you’ll be doing any real shopping anytime soon. Patrick Ervell is taking mens fashion up a notch and by notch I mean climbing up the ladder. His designs are…. whatever they are the simplest way to put it is they’re nice/good and new look for the fall/spring/summer/lifetime for men is shiny gold.
I think using swagger to describe Barack Obama would be insulting. It sounds overused. So we’ll call him dapper. So much so that Hart Schaffner Marx is capitalizing on the future President’s decision to wear the brand throughout his campaign. Here’s what the suit company’s website had to say about their product.
“Pick your power suit, President-elect Barack Obama found his at Hart Schaffner Marx.”
Feel like they should have put an exclamation point at the end of their statement. You know, to signify how excited they are about the money they’re about to make…in a recession. Forgot to mention that the suits retail for $1500. Dollar bills, y’all.
Prada, luxury brand turned short film king, has got another one and I love it, like I loved the others. I may not be a Prada fan when it comes to clothing, but maybe that’ll change soon enough because there creativity is starting to get to me.
Fashion changes like clockwork every season something new, someone in, someone out, but its some things you can count on being consistent over time. Fashion shows, fashion week, skinny models, new designers, and the ugly shit that always seem to the new “it” for the upcoming season. Well, I wanted to get someone that I not only felt mastered the fashion game with his designs more then his words, but I also wanted someone I could have talk about these things and spread some truth light and thoughts on the fashion game, because you must be a player to play in fashion. Brian Wood was the designer whose work proved itself to be a step above the rest and who was willing to speak his mind on matters of fashion week, the seasons, and the brands he’s just not feeling at all.
It’s amazing how one can be lead into the world of fashion, in life some things are passion, some things hobbies, some things are paths, others are just simply things that interest you. You learn things from trial and error, you can be self taught or school taught. To me it’s not really what you do but how you do it and the journey you took to get there. The story of Helena Fredriksson is one of many paths, hobbies and self lessons that have lead her into fashion and designing clothes. This isn’t the life and times or even the biography of Helena Fredriksson but a mere story of her life and many tidbits that make up who Helena Fredriksson is.
Here’s how you make it in the fashion industry. Make an innovative product. Get a Marc Jacobs cosign. Sit back and collect the fortune. Just ask Dee and Ricky Johnson. The twins from Staten Island were made famous when their Lego brooches and belts were featured in the 2008 Spring Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. Up next, look out for No Mas and the boys’ collaboration with their rendition of the duffle bag, made from vintage Starter jackets. Only available at select retailers such as Colette. And….that’s not it. The Johnson duo also make up two-thirds of the Jackson Swinton trio. Thought you got into music, first, and then branch out to fashion? Guess not. Lesson learned: Have more than one hustle. Go and get your money, lil’ duffle bag boy(s).
The always super sex geared up Agent Provocateur has dropped another promo video this one starring Danish model Helena Christensen for their new,“Pirates”, collection. Look and enjoy then visit their website for a much longer extended version of their little pirate film.
To hot too handle, I’m melting, pure hotness, drip drop, sticky icky (ok maybe not stick icky), there are many good as well as corny catchphrases you could use to coin these melting sunglasses by Anna Ter Haar but it be best to just call them what they are, the dripping sunglasses. And while you’re looking around her site go ahead and check out her goldplay as well.
This is episode one of a new series from Complex TV called, Cut and Show. It showcases emerging new fashion brands who are turning heads in the fashion game, and soon to be the next wave. Episode one was with fashion brand Cassette. Cut and Show episode two is up with Maiden Noir.
Seeing is believing and now you can see just how much perfume you put on before stepping out the house, helping solve that problem of giving any bystanders headaches from over usage, or more commonly known as a heavy push finger. Wode by Boudicca comes in a graffiti spray can and the perfume turns cobalt blue when it hits your skin or clothing, no worries the color fades after a little bit of time. Wode comes in two different styles the color changing version, Wode Paint, and the non color version, Wode Scent. So if you are a little scardy cat you can go get Wode Scent to play it safe. Or if you aren’t a bore you can get Wode Paint, and live life how it’s supposed to be lived.
New bag from Makr. It’s a black and saddle tote bag, Makr’s first large item. Jason Gregory and Makr are still tops in leather making in my books. And watch out for an upcoming suede and wax-wear series.
