We’ve already talked about her once before so lets cut the chit chat and get right to things, re-introducing Honey Larochelle.

When was music it for you, when did that light bulb go off?

Well, my mom was a singer, so that’s all I’ve ever done. It’s sort of like taking over the family business so to speak.

Who are some of your musical influences, your sound seems closely rooted to the neo-soul sound?

Well, my mom raised me on soul and acceppella. So Stevie, Prince, and Take 6, were the ones I loved most. Also, Anita Baker. But over the years developing my sound, I was definitely touched by many of the neo-soul era as well as rock n roll, hip hop and funk. Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu or course, the Beatles, Gavin Degraw, Dave Matthews, and so many more have influenced me for a time or a season…

What other genres of music do you listen too and who are some of your favorite artist from those genres?

Well those mentioned up there, hehe, and ‘ve just discovered that I absolutely love Led Zepplin. I’m sure there are more but everytime I answer that question its a snap shot of what I’m listening to lately. You know? I work out to Linkin Park. LOVE them!

To this date what is your favorite song you’ve ever sung recorded or not and what’s your favorite meal to cook?

Wow, that’s two questions! Well I’ll start with the food cause I love food! I make a mean egg breakfast. Everyday it varies but every morning I make one. Anywhere from spinach onions and mushrooms egg white omlettets or huevos rancheros minus the pork of course. I also do tilapia with my famous brown rice and sauteed spinach, I love spinach.

Now my favorite song is impossible to name. I have a new song  just recorded with Macy Gray and her superdoor productions team, Jared and Whitey. Its called stop playin dumb. Its about when you ask the one you with a simple question and he/she says, huh? Right now I really love that song.

If you could work with any living artist and any dead artist who would you pick?

Well, again I can’t choose just one. I’ve been looking forward to working with Mos Def, Andre 3000, and Missy for a long time. More recently Cee Lo Green and Danger Mouse, and Mark Ronson have made the top of my list. Prince and Stevie always. Of those already passed, I would love Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye and of course the late great Donny Hathaway.

What is the funniest video you’ve seen online recently?

Haha! There is this new Macy Gray song called, slap a bitch, an it’s not released yet, but somehow this guy got a hold of it and shot a video of himself lip synching it. It is already a hilarious song, but this guys version is the best! Youtube search Macy Gray slap a bitch and click on gay bear.

How do you think the internet and recession have played a role in the music industry and how do you think those aspects will effect the next 5 years in music, any forecast?

Well, Jim, cloudy all day with chances of showers. People don’t pay for music anymore so its become us making very very expensive commercials and making profits on tour and merchandise. The next 5 years will be a lot of experimenting. People have to be creative until the next big thing reaches that tipping point.

Not all R&B singers use a live band what is it about a band to you?

Well, there is a certain authenticity to a live band, and of course way more fun and tons more freedom on stage when you have band members to play and communicate with.
