On the corner of 6th and Howard St. in San Francisco you will see a building that looks as if there are many arguments going on inside or people trying to escape it. With the help of 100 volunteers in 1997 Brian Goggin created “Defenestration” a sculptural exhibition/experiment using a building as its main infrastructure. Couches, tables, clocks, lamps, chairs, a refrigerator and much more all hang from windows or outer walls of the building. The building is still as is today as it was 11 years ago and is a good glimpse in the art past and the art future, because as the art world changes one thing seems to remain intact, good art is good art, in which the viewer stops, thinks, scratches head, and ponders some more before moving on.
